5 Options to Be Grateful for with Custom Greeting Cards

Custom Thanksgiving greeting cards with copper foil and black foil are displayed in an autumn wreath.

We grabbed out most popular greeting card size, A2 Folded Cards, and created a fun selection of Thanksgiving Cards in honor of the holiday. Although we’re grateful for the holiday, we’re even more grateful for all the awesome custom print options we’re able to offer our customers to create amazing stationery.

5 Options to Be Grateful for with Custom Greeting Cards

1. Print Processes

An in-store display of custom Thanksgiving greeting cards with a variety of fun designs.

The print processes shown above (from left to right) are letterpress, thermography, letterpress, digital and foil stamping.

No surprise here that print processes is #1 on our list — it’s what we do! We’ve been perfecting specialty print processes for more than 70 years and it shows in our craftsmanship. Read more About Us and see how our history in the print industry has shaped our offering. Creating custom greeting cards with a variety of print processes is a cinch here at TOG.ink and as you try new processes, you’ll begin to understand which ones lend the perfect look and feel for the occasion. We’ll take a closer look at each design and featured print options below.

2. Paper Options

Full-color digital custom greeting cards with "gobble til you wobble" in script font.

Now that’s a card everyone can relate to on Thanksgiving! As funny as the design and saying may be, full-color digital printing is just as instrumental in creating an eye-catching and relatable message. We printed one card on 105 lb. white shimmer paper and the other on our standard 115 lb. white smooth paper. The 115 lb. white smooth paper is a go-to paper for absolutely anything but if you’re looking to jazz things up, shimmer always looks amazing, especially with digital printing. Wondering about photos? They also look amazing. The shimmer finish gives photos a really nice glow. The only time I would not recommend choosing shimmer paper is with thermography designs because it detracts from the subtle shine of raised thermography ink. Check out Canceled Plans and Custom Print to see an example of what I mean. (Item used: A2 Side-Fold Card, Digital)

3. Ink Colors

I’m preaching to the choir here when I say ink colors can make or break a design. Especially when we’re talking about letterpress and thermography stationery. The test above aimed to show the difference between two shades of orange printed in letterpress on the same 110 lb. pearl white paper. Both look great but depending on your design, you may want something brighter or darker. You can see all of the ink colors we offer in the following cheat sheets: Color Options: Letterpress and Color Options: Thermography.

Here’s where we STRONGLY recommend purchasing our Designer Tool Kit so you can see printed samples of every color. Or you can put through test sheets of your own. Check out this test sheet we have used in the past. (Item used: A2 Side-Fold Card, Letterpress We also offer 2-color letterpress: A2 Side-Fold Card, 2-Color Letterpress. You can do 2-color thermography as well by uploading a separate PDF for each ink color. There is a minimal extra charge applied after the second PDF is uploaded.)

4. Foil Colors

Custom greeting cards featuring black foil and copper foil are shown together for color comparison.

A2 Folded Cards featuring copper foil stamping and black foil stamping on our standard 115 lb. white smooth paper.

Foil is so much fun to experiment with, and we could have gone all kinds of directions with metallic foils. For this design, the designer really wanted to show this autumn tree in black foil to showcase just how striking a matte foil can be. We do not currently offer a brown foil as of right now so we went with copper foil on one and black foil on the other. The detail is tremendous and the autumn leaves in full-color digital print add a gorgeous sense of dimension to each piece. You can see all of our foil color options in the Color Options: Foil cheat sheet. Of course, be sure to check out the Designer Tool Kit to see a printed sample of each. 5. Affordable Prices

Custom greeting cards featuring raised thermography in mocha ink.

A2 Folded Cards with mocha thermography print on 115 lb. white smooth and 110 lb. white textured paper.

TOG.ink is known for its competitive pricing in the wholesale stationery market. We offer excellent pricing on letterpress if you didn’t already know. However, the really great thing about shopping TOG.ink is that there is a specialty print process to fit every price range. Digital is by far our best-selling print process but thermography is one of our best-kept secrets! Raised thermography print is one specialty print process you can afford to add to your portfolio and clients and customers will love it. Above you’ll see how we used mocha ink thermography on 115 lb. white smooth paper and 110 lb. white textured paper. The texture adds a really nice look and feel to the piece allowing the raised print to create the illusion of even more depth. Here’s the exact item used: A2 Side-Fold Card, Thermography

Many of you are creating your own lines of greeting cards, and wow are you all talented! Some of the designs we see on the floor are just stunning. So keep up the good work but remember to experiment with all the custom options you have at your fingertips, too!
