Let’s talk patterns and custom print!

Patterns, patterns, patterns! We’ve been scrolling through the libraries at patternbank.com for a little inspiration as we enter into spring and summer. If you haven’t visited patternbank before, we highly recommend it.

As we browse the incredible selection, our brains start churning about different ways to incorporate rich patterns into stationery, and we wanted to give you a little window into our world of paper + patterns. We enlisted the help of our Creative Director, April, to give us some juicy details about what patterns look best with the various specialty print processes we offer, so you can create some truly inspired custom print stationery.

“The simplest way to show pattern and texture is through digital design. We offer state-of-the-art digital printing, which results in vibrant color and crisp details. You really can’t go wrong with digitally printed patterns!” – April, TOG.ink Creative Director

“When you want a sense of dimension and movement, thermography is wonderful! The raised feel is luxurious but thermo is very affordable. The best use is without screens to give the full tactile effect.” – April, TOG.ink Creative Director

“Letterpress combines soft, fluffy paper with a heavily pressed design and/or wording. The pillowy, textural quality ALWAYS leaves a lasting impression, which is why this is one of my favorite ways to create a captivating pattern on paper.” – April, TOG.ink Creative Director

“Patterns are illuminated with the shine of real foil. The slight impression of the foil stamp also adds texture to the design. Foil adds glamour to any printed piece but I like to think it adds an elevated sense of intrigue to patterns in particular.” – April, TOG.ink Creative Director

A huge thank you to April! We always appreciate her expertise and are so happy to share it with all of you. We hope it has helped inspire your next custom print creation!

Favorite Print Process: I am a letterpress fan, I love the thick cotton paper and the pillowy impressions.
