Hot Trend Off the Press: Colorful Florals and Letterpress

Custom wedding invitation suite with watercolor florals in digital and letterpress printing.

Well, friends. It’s been a while since we’ve highlighted a Hot Trend Off the Press but when I saw this wedding invitation suite roll out of the Letterpress department, I knew we had to feature it! Be sure to shop letterpress and discover your next project.

Brilliant Florals and Crisp Letterpress

Beth Compton of Tinlizzy Design Co. designed this elegant yet playful wedding invitation suite featuring vibrant digital print and crisp letterpress. First and foremost, we ADORE the color palette. The shades of pink and blue really pop off the invitation, and the way the watercolor florals spill in from the corners brings a sense of natural movement to the piece overall.

At the top, you’ll notice an illustration of the venue. Our Art Director has been commenting on how popular illustrations have become, and we’re seeing them in all of the specialty print processes: thermography, letterpress and foil stamping. However, fine details can pose a problem for foil stamped illustrations especially. Always order a minimum quantity of 10 as a test to ensure we can achieve the level of quality you’re looking for!

Bold Color Choices

Beth wasn’t afraid to use a bright color for the wedding invitation wording — bravo! She did a wonderful job choosing Letterpress Ink Colors that match beautifully. The marine letterpress ink looks amazing with the blue shades in the watercolor floral design. The pink letterpress ink creates a complementary border around the whole piece, anchoring all elements.

Paying Attention to Paperweight

Another thing worth noting is that all three pieces of this custom letterpress ensemble are printed on 110 lb. cotton paper. Notice how defined the letterpress is even in the lighter of the two paperweights we offer. If you’re thinking about not exploring letterpress because you don’t want to pay for the thicker paper, don’t worry! The lighter weight was chosen and tested to hold an impression beautifully.
