Not Using the TOG.ink Template
Our downloadable templates are the easiest way to set your design up for success. They clearly show the trim line, bleed area, and safe zone so you know exactly where artwork and text should be placed.

Designing with the template helps prevent uneven borders, cut-off text, and other avoidable printing issues.
Forgetting Bleed
If your background or artwork extends to the edge of the finished piece, it needs to continue into the bleed area. Without it, you may end up with unwanted white edges after trimming.
Placing Text Too Close to the Edge
Keep names, dates, and other important elements inside the safe zone. This allows for normal trimming variations and helps ensure nothing gets cut off.
Designing in RGB
Digital screens use RGB, but professional printing uses CMYK. Setting up your file in CMYK will help your printed colors match your expectations more closely.
Using Low-Quality Images
Always use high-resolution graphics and photos. Enlarging low-resolution images can result in blurry or pixelated prints.
Exporting the Wrong File
Before uploading your artwork, export it as a PDF Print file with fonts embedded or outlined. This helps preserve your design and ensures it prints as intended.
