All the feels! Thermography

by

A thermography printed wedding invitation is shown with a zen sand garden in the background to symbolize that thermography feels like melted sand. Did you know thermography is a hugely popular choice for wedding invitation suites? It’s often used for wedding invitation wording. Even if the invitation design is digital, foil stamped or letterpressed, many designers will use thermography for the wording because it gives an elevated look without adding to the cost.

Thermography printing was developed over a century ago as a more affordable substitute for engraving and other manual finishing effects. The invention of automated thermography machines brought the cost down significantly. How does it work now? Ink is printed on paper, then sprinkled with resin and exposed to heat. The result is raised lettering with a slight shimmer and lovely texture. Watch a video to see it in action. If you’re not using this print process today, you should be!
