We talk about foil printing quite a bit because it\u2019s such a beautiful print process but we rarely talk about black foil stamping. That\u2019s because black foil can be tricky. Since black foil is a matte foil, it doesn\u2019t shine like metallic foils do. Designers who choose it are typically going for a very specific look. Black foil stamping on bright white paper looks so classy! Perfect for ultra-formal wedding celebrations, galas and corporate fundraisers.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s Talk Black Foil on Black Paper<\/h2>\n

We\u2019re not afraid to brag that we have some really talented designers that order from TOG.ink and we have seen a few of you order black foil on black paper. It\u2019s stunning! When we asked the product design team to put together a few custom Halloween designs, one in particular was so frightening it begged for a black on black look. So we chose black foil on a digitally printed black background and it turned out SO GOOD! (All of the party invitation designs are amazing, and you can see more of them on our home page<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

Halloween is a prime opportunity to try something spooky with black foil and it totally paid off. The quality is superb and the visual effect is spot on for the occasion. We chose an A7 flat card with digital and foil<\/a> because we wanted to accentuate key aspects of the design with black foil and other aspects of the design in vibrant orange digital printing.<\/p>\n

Test, Test, Test<\/h3>\n

You could certainly choose to do black foil stamping on solid black paper but you would have to do everything (design and wording) in foil. You can even do 2-color foil via custom quote<\/a>. I would LOVE to see this in black and red foils. I might even run a test at some point but we were leery of the smaller text losing definition so we went with the safe bet of foil and digital. It\u2019s always a good idea to run tests!<\/p>\n
